BARSS, superintendent of State Industrial School, Vergennes [Addison County, Vermont], was born 04 December 1872 at Windsor, Nova Scotia, son of Joseph T. and Harriet (VIDETO) BARSS. He was educated at Acadia College, Wolfville, Nova Scotia. Mr. BARSS was employed as bookkeeper for George F. Washburn & Company, Boston, 1900-1901; was assistant, Worceter County, Massachusetts, Training School 1901-1902; was assistant superintendent, Kurn-Hattin Home, Westminster [Windham County, Vermont] 1902-1903; was superintendent of Stetson Home for Boys, Barre [Worcester County], Massachusetts, 1903-1907; and since 1907 has been superintendent of Vermont State Industrial School, Vergennes. He is a Republican, and in religious belief, a Baptist. In 1906 Joseph N. BARSS married [Miss?] Jessie M. McNEIL of Melvern Square, Nova Scotia. Submitted by Cathy Kubly
