(MORSE) BUTTON. Educated at Brandon High School, class of 1899; University of Vermont; and Chicago-Kent College of Law, class of 1902; was clerk in the Chicago Law Institute, 1899-1902; admitted to Illinois Bar 1904; practiced law in Chicago [Cook County, Illinois] with Springer, Garnett & Burns; admitted to Vermont Bar 1904; has since practiced in Middlebury; in 1910 appointed by Governor MEAD as judge of probate, Addison District, to succeed William H. BLISS, deceased. In 1906 Mr. [Charles Ira] BUTTON married [Miss?] Abigail Hopkins RAY of Brandon. They have no children. Republican; was campaign speaker in 1904 and 1906. In religious belief a Congregationalist. Member of the Masons; the Moosalamoo Club; Congregational Club of Western Vermont; and the Green Mountain Club; was treasurer of Addison County Agricultural Society, 1905-1908; secretary of Addison County Agricultural Society, 1909-1910.
