ABERNETHY, merchant of Burlington [Chittenden County, VT], was born in New Haven [Addison County, Vermont], 28 December 1858, a son of Ira and Mary (LAWRENCE) ABERNETHY. He was educated in the public schools and at Bristol Academy. Mr. [Frank D.] ABERNETHY is unmarried. In October 1880 he began his business career as a clerk in the store of LYMAN & ALLEN in Burlington, and was admitted to partnership in the firm in 1885. On the death of Mr. LYMAN in 1890, he became an equal partner with Mr. ALLEN, under the firm name of H. W. ALLEN & Company. In 1910 he purchased Mr. ALLEN's interest in the firm, which is now the largest dry goods establishment in Vermont. Mr. [Frank D.] ABERNETHY is a Republican, and an Episcopalian. He is a member of Washington Lodge No. 3, Free & Accepted Masons of Burlington, the Algonquin and Ethan Allen clubs, and Waubanakee Golf Club. Submitted by Cathy Kubly
