ALLARD, town clerk and treasurer, Winooski, Vermont, was born 08 October 1857 at Winooski, Chittenden County, Vermont, son of Francis E. and Cecilia (GORDON) ALLARD. He was educated in the public and parochial schools, and Montreal College, Montreal, Province of Quebec. He was employed in the office of the Burlington cotton mill two years; spinner, and later foreman of the spooling and twisting room of the Burlington woolen mill until 1882; clerk in Carpenter Brothers store 1882-1885; clerk for Platt & Company 1885-1888; Postmaster, Winooski, 1888-1892, 1893-1897; Assistant Postmaster 1892-1893; engaged in the steam laundry business 1897-1903. Democrat; in 1903 elected Town Clerk and in 1905 Town Treasurer; Village Treasurer, district School Clerk, and graded school Treasurer. Member of St. Stephen's Roman Catholic Church. Member Catholic Order of Foresters; Knights of Columbus; St. Peter's Society; and chief forester in Modern Woodman of America. In 1878 Christopher G. ALLARD married Zoe PARISEAU, of Winooski. They have nine children: Francis C., T. Henry (deceased), Julian F., Joseph E. (deceased), Mary C., Zoe A., J. William, Louis C. (deceased), and Evelyn A. (deceased). Biography of Francis E. ALLARD (brother of Christopher G.) Francis E. ALLARD, merchant, Winooski, Vermont, was born at Winooski, Chittenden County, Vermont, 29 May 1856, son of Francis E. and Cecilia (GORDON) ALLARD. He was educated in the public and parochial schools. He was employed in the Burlington woolen mills two years; in 1875 engaged in the manufacture and sale of candy; in 1896 built the Allard block to which he removed his business, continuing the same until 1905; from 1905-1910 in the cigar and tobacco business; in 1911 purchased the Pease clothing store, which he has conducted to date. He is a stockholder in Champlain Trust Company; a Democrat; Lister and village President three years; first Selectman four years; Trustee one year; Justice of the Peace since 1890; Overseer of the Poor in 1902; Water Commissioner six years; and represented Colchester [Chittenden County] in the [Vermont] Legislature in 1902 and 1910. He is a member of St. Stephen's Roman Catholic Church; financial secretary of Catholic Order of Foresters ten years; chief ranger of Catholic Order of Foresters; member of St. Peter's Society; Knights of Columbus, and a member of Sherman's Military Band thirty-two years. In 1882 Francis E. ALLARD married [Miss?] Mary J. MAGUIRE of Malone, Franklin County, New York. They had five children: Eugene F.
