Chicago: Western Historical, 1880, p 728 Edward ROBERTS, stonemason; Hustisford [Hustisford Township, Dodge County, Wisconsin, was born 06 April 1836 in Wales, where he attended school and lived until the fall of 1856, when he came to America. He spent ten months in Ohio, having made a trip through the South. In August 1857 he settled in Clyman [Clyman Township, just west of Hustisford Township], removing to Hustisford in 1860. In 1861 Edward ROBERTS enlisted in the Seventh Wisconsin Battery, and was in the siege of Island No. 10 [about sixty miles below Columbus, Kentucky; fought from 28 February to 28 April 1862 ], and in many skirmishes in Kentucky and Tennessee. He was wounded at Humboldt, Tennessee, losing part of his foot by a rebel bullet, in consequence of which he was honorably discharged on 05 October 1863. He is now drawing a Government pension. In 1870 in Juneau [Oak Grove Township, Dodge County, Wisconsin] he [Edward ROBERTS] married Miss Caroline HABLE. They [Edward and Caroline (HABLE) ROBERTS] have four living children: Margaret A., Amelia S., Gladius T., and a babe. Mr. ROBERTS is a Republican. He has twice served as Justice of the Peace, and is also a member of the Temple of Honor, and the Independent Order of Odd Fellows. Submitted by Cathy Kubly
