From Memorial and Genealogical Record of Dodge and Jefferson Counties, Wisconsin, publ. 1894 - Page 145-146 AZRO HALL. This successful tiller of the soil is a product of the county in which he now resides, and here first saw the light of day September 27, 1847, a son of M. B. and Judith (ROLLINS) HALL, natives of Rutland County, Vt. The father was a farmer in the Green Mountain State, and continued that occupation after locating in Dodge County, Wis., of which region he was one of the early settlers. After a number of years he sold the claim he had pre-empted in Burnett Township, and moved to the township of Oak Grove, where he opened up a farm, on which he made his home for many years. He is now retired, and resides with a daughter in Rolling Prairie, in his eighty-seventh year. His wife died in 1890. Azro HALL was the third of five children born to his parents, the other members of the family being J. M., wife of W. M. McNEAL; M. R., a farmer of Burnett Township; Nettie married E. H. McCONNELL, of Rolling Prairie, and Emily (deceased), who married R. E. McGLASHAN, left a family of five children. The youth and early manhood of Azro HALL were spent on his father's farm and in attending the common schools in the vicinity of his rural home. He remained with his father until he was twenty-six years old, then began doing for himself, and in the fall of 1875 was united in marriage in Beaver Dam to Miss Sarah THORP, who was born in Jefferson County and reared in Dodge County. After his marriage, Mr. HALL located on his present farm, which he had purchased just previous to his marriage, consisting of seventy-four acres. He built a good barn on this land, made other substantial improvements, and bought other lands from time to time, until he now has 174 acres, all in one body. His present substantial financial position has been brought about by his own efforts, and he deserves much credit and the respect of all for the manner in which he has spent his life, for he has been upright and honorable in every worthy particular. He has always been identified with the Democrat party, but his first presidential vote was cast for "Honest Abe" Lincoln, and at times he votes independently. He was elected township treasurer in the spring of 1884, a position he has since filled by re-election. Mr. HALL has spent many years in this county, and has ever been true to its interests, and a public-spirited and useful citizen. He has excellent business qualifications, and to know him is to honor him. His family consists of six children: Gertrude, who is attending the Beaver Dam High School; Benner M., Henry, Lura, Marion, and Lester. Submitted by Carol
