From Memorial and Genealogical Record of Dodge and Jefferson Counties, Wisconsin, publ. 1894 - Page 127-128 WILLIAM T. RAMBUSCH. It is a noteworthy fact that it is not only to native-born residents of this country that respect is accorded and on whom official positions of trust are bestowed, for the citizen of foreign birth has also an excellent showing in this country, if he has it in him to prove himself a man. The true American prides himself on the fact that he can bestow "honor where honor is due," regardless of "race, color or previous condition of servitude." The intelligent foreigner has come in for his share of public notice, and all over this broad land of ours he is found filling honorable and responsible positions with ability, intelligence and patriotism. This is essentially true of William T. RAMBUSCH, who, although born in Denmark, is a law-abiding citizen of the United States. He was born November 5, 1839, to Henry and Henrietta (SMITH) RAMBUSCH, and was partially educated by private tutors, and in 1859 graduated from the University of Copenhagen. In 1860 he came to America, and until the fall of 1861 resided in the city of New York, enlisting in September of that year in Company K, Fifty-first New York Infantry, was in Burnside's Ninth Corps, Army of the Potomac. He took part in the battle of Roanoke Island, Newbern, second Bull Run, Chantilly, Antietam and Fredericksburg, and in December 1863, was mustered out of the service. He came almost immediately to Watertown, Wis., where he remained until the fall of 1865, when he came to Juneau, became a clerk in an abstract office, and since 1874 has been the proprietor of the same. He has the only complete set of abstract books in Dodge County. From 1870 to 1874, however, he was a clerk in the post office department at Washington. He helped establish the Citizen's Bank of Juneau, and at the present time is one of its three proprietors. He was married in Dodge County in 1868 (July 2), to Miss Eily CURTIS, a daughter of Hiram CURTIS, an old settler of Oak Grove. She was born in Candor, N.Y., and is the mother of one child, Fannie. Mrs. RAMBUSCH is a member of the Presbyterian Church. Mr. RAMBUSCH has always supported the principles of the Republican party since coming to this country, and at one time was the supervisor of the census of this district, comprising the counties of Milwaukee, Racine, Walworth, Kenosha, Jefferson, Washington, Ozaukee, Dodge, and Waukesha. He is a useful and progressive citizen and a credit to the country which gave him birth. He is a member of John H. Ely Post, No. 31, G.A.R., and has been commander of the same. He is the only member of his family in this country. Submitted by Carol
